Diaphanie
shape the texture of your image
Diaphanie addresses the texture side of look development. This OpenFX plugin* offers several modules aimed at shaping the look and feel of your images by focusing on its spatial and texture properties.
* currently supports DaVinci Resolve (macOS Intel + Apple Silicon & Windows with CUDA GPU)
Halation & Diffusion
Adjust the texture of the image with the help of emulated optical and photometric behaviors.
The Halation tool offers extra control: define the quantity and quality of glow around the highlights, and amplify the effect with the highlight separation tool to get closer to its film reference look and feel. You also have control on the color (tint and saturation) of the glow.
The Diffusion tool allows for parametric, continuous control of the diffusion effect applied on the image. Choose whether your diffusion is more global or centered around highlights, and how fast and strong it will fall off.
Spatial Equalizer
Control the definition of specific regions of your image, based on their spatial frequency. Sharpen or soften these areas, from the finest details to the broadest shapes, to define the general shape of your texture, and smooth unwanted details (skin pores, small hair…).
Grain Generation
Embrace the advantages of a procedural grain: it doesn’t rely on scanned stocks, but is fully generated and customizable beyond what scanned data usually offers.
Use its presets to emulate a film grain, or get even more creative by giving it a different look and feel.
Fine-tune the intensity of the grain in different brightness areas of the image.
Multi-Resolution Compatibility
Texture manipulation is dependent on the workflow resolution.
With Diaphanie, you can define the texture of your image on a given resolution, and switch to a different resolution at anytime on your timeline and on the plugin.
The texture will automatically adapt to the timeline resolution or the manual setting in the plugin, to get a coherent look and feel in various deliverables.
Preset Flexibility
Use the Preset Library to save time on look development and build on your previous experiences. Save your work as a preset to build up your own Library as you dive deeper in the look development experience.
You can also benefit from the built-in presets to get a better understanding of the look development process, and to get a head start on your first look creations.
Embedded Color Management
Diaphanie is designed to be used inside a color-managed workflow. Its modules are conceived natively as part of an ACES 1.3 workflow.
Alternate workflows are supported by an in-out embedded color space conversion, allowing you to benefit from the strength of Diaphanie’s native operations without affecting your workflow choices.
